Standards and Indicators

We have a library of over 200 quality standards and a single menu of indicators. They can be used to help define and measure quality in health, public health and social care.

They can be used by commissioners, service providers, practitioners, partner organisations and charities. They're also useful to service users and those close to them.

We develop our quality standards and indicators using a robust evidence base and a rigorous process. This includes input from advisory committees and public consultation.

Quality standards

Our quality standards set out priority areas for quality improvement. They highlight areas with identified variation in current practice.

Indicators

Our indicators measure outcomes that reflect the quality of care, or processes linked by evidence to improved outcomes.
