The NICE accreditation programme started in 2009 with the aim to raise standards in guidance production and improve the quality of information produced for health and social care decision-makers. The programme has been well received and supported; we are delighted with what has been achieved.
Recognising that the programme has achieved many of its initial aims and reflecting on recent changes within NICE about we prioritise our guidance topics; we made the decision to close the accreditation programme in July 2024 to both new applicants and to organisations that were accredited.
Whilst the accreditation programme is now closed NICE remain committed to continuing our work with external guideline developers. We anticipate that our new approach to prioritising topics and ensuring we respond quickly to changes in system needs will require closer working and collaboration with our key partners.
We wish to sincerely thank the external guidance producers and organisations for their contribution and involvement.
