Partnering with us for research - timescales and process

Whether you are a researcher, funder, charity or policy organisation, you can partner with us for methodological research.

As one of the leading health technology assessment agencies, our expertise is unrivalled. Working with us can ensure that your research has real impact on policymakers in the UK and abroad. However, we have limited resources for research and cannot support all proposed projects. We prioritise projects which are aligned to our priority methodological research areas.

We can:

  1. work actively with you as a co-applicant for research funding (for projects that support our priority methodological research areas)
  2. sit on an advisory group for your research
  3. give you a letter of support.

The process and timings involved will depend on the type of involvement you're requesting:

1. ask us to work actively with you as a co-applicant

    4 to 6 months before funding deadline

    Email research@nice.org.uk to arrange an initial discussion.

  • Complete the request form.

    Email the draft form to research@nice.org.uk.

  • Discussions will now take place to agree the extent of our involvement, the resources required and the costs.

    Update the request form

    Review the request form and return it to research@nice.org.uk.

    1 month before the funding deadline

    We will review your request and approve involvement.

    Submit final application

    Submit the final application to your funder and send a copy to research@nice.org.uk.

2. ask us to sit on an advisory group for your research

    At least 2 months before your funding deadline

    Complete the request form and email it to research@nice.org.uk.

  • Discussions will now take place to agree the extent of our involvement, the resources required and the costs.

    Update the request form

    Review the request form and return it to research@nice.org.uk.

    1 month before the funding deadline

    We will review the request. Involvement will be approved at this stage.

    Submit final application

    Submit the final application to funder and send a copy to research@nice.org.uk.

3. ask for a letter of support

    At least 2 months before your funding deadline

    Complete parts A to B of the request form and email it to research@nice.org.uk.

  • Discussions will now take place to agree the contents of the letter of support.

    1 month before the funding deadline

    We will approve the request and provide the letter of support.

    Submit final application

    Submit the final application to your funder and send a copy to research@nice.org.uk.
