Robot-assisted surgery is a type of surgery in which robotic technologies are used to support the work of the surgeon. These technologies provide real-time imaging and feedback, allowing joint replacement procedures to be done with more precision, flexibility and control than is possible with conventional techniques. Robotic technologies vary in their functionality, imaging requirements, and compatibility with implants. All technologies in this evaluation are 'closed', which means they can only be used with implants made by the company that makes the robotic technology. This is as opposed to technologies that are 'open', which can be used with different implants.
