Sacrocolpopexy using mesh to repair vaginal vault prolapse is done with the patient under general anaesthesia, using an open or laparoscopic abdominal approach. Mesh is attached to the longitudinal ligament of the sacrum, or to the sacrum itself, most often at the level of the sacral promontory. The mesh is then attached to the apex of the vagina and sometimes to the anterior or posterior vaginal wall.
