Quality statements
Statement 1 Adults with suspected renal colic have low-dose non-contrast CT within 24 hours of presentation.
Statement 2 Adults, children and young people with suspected renal colic receive a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug as first-line treatment.
Statement 3 Adults with ureteric stones and renal colic have surgical treatment within 48 hours of diagnosis or readmission, if pain is ongoing and not tolerated, or the stone is unlikely to pass.
Statement 4 Adults with renal or ureteric stones have their serum calcium measured.
Statement 5 Adults, children and young people with renal or ureteric stones are given advice on diet and fluid intake.
