Research studies would preferably include observational data collection and should describe patient selection in detail. Outcome measures should include lung function, dyspnoea score, exercise tolerance, quality of life and long‑term safety. Studies should also report on the influence of the procedure on subsequent lung surgery. NICE may update the guidance on publication of further evidence.
