NICE has assessed PICO negative pressure wound dressings for closed surgical incisions to help the NHS decide whether to use this product.
PICO dressings are designed to evenly distribute pressure across closed surgical incisions. Evidence shows that compared with standard dressings, using PICO dressings can lead to fewer infections and seromas.
PICO dressings should only be considered for people who are at high risk of surgical site infections.
