NICE has said Prontosan could be helpful for treating chronic wounds. But there’s not enough evidence to be able to recommend its use in the NHS. So NICE has recommended that further research should be done. There is not enough evidence to recommend it for treating acute wounds.
Prontosan is used to help with healing wounds. It aims to speed up the time it takes for the wound to heal, improve wound condition and reduce infections. Some people have wounds that take a long time to heal or may not heal at all. Prontosan aims to improve quality of life for these people by reducing pain, odour and dressing changes.
