The Institute proposed in May 2005 that in the absence of new evidence, both NICE Technology Appraisal Guidance no. 10, on inhaler systems (devices) in children under the age of 5 years with chronic asthma, and no. 38, on inhaler devices for routine treatment of chronic asthma in older children (aged 5-15 years), should be moved to the static list.

During consultation, the majority of comments received by the Institute agreed with the proposal put forward. 

After consideration of all of the comments, the Institute’s Guidance Executive has decided to proceed with the proposal.

Both pieces of guidance will therefore become static.
