Decision to update section 1.2 in a forthcoming NICE guideline

We would like to update you on the decision made regarding the review of the existing guidance on TA139; Continuous positive airway pressure for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea/hypopnoea syndrome.

NICE was proposing that section 1.2 of TA139 should be updated in the in development NICE guideline on obstructive sleep apnoea/hypopnoea syndrome and obesity hypoventilation syndrome.

After consideration of all the comments received during the consultation NICE has decided to proceed with the proposal

As such section 1.2 of TA139, will be updated by the NICE guideline, should the guideline committee make a recommendation that is different from the TA. However, if the recommendation is unchanged from the TA, the recommendation can be left in place.  Recommendations 1.1 and 1.3 will remain extant and the NICE guideline will cross-refer to these recommendations.
