The planned date for review of the above guidance was January 2004.

This is the date at which the Institute decides whether sufficient new evidence has emerged for the Appraisal Committee to be asked to undertake a full review appraisal.

The Institute has carried out a search for information relevant to this appraisal, and has found that to the best of its knowledge, no new evidence has been published that would have a material effect on the current guidance. NICE also asked the consultees involved in the original appraisal to inform the Institute of any evidence that would suggest a review at this time would be beneficial. Since none was forthcoming it has been decided that the decision to review the current guidance be deferred until January 2006 when the evidence base will again be assessed to ascertain the need for a review of the guidance.
