Review of NICE Technology Appraisal Guidance Nos. 47 Glycoprotein iib/iiia inhibitors in the treatment of acute coronary syndromes & 80 Clopidogrel in the treatment of non-ST-segment-elevation acute coronary syndrome

Proposal to update the guidances within the clinical guideline

Having re-looked at the guidances and the possible scope for updating them, the Institute is proposing that these topics would be better dealt with within the context of a clinical guideline. Consequently, we propose that the original pieces of guidance be updated by the NICE guideline on acute coronary syndromes, which has recently been referred to the Institute. The current appraisal guidances would stand until the time that the new guideline is issued to the NHS, at this point these technology appraisals will be superseded.

In order to be completely confident that this is appropriate, we are asking all relevant consultees and commentators, to inform us of any evidence which will help us decide the best way to update these pieces of guidance. Please see appendix A for a full list of the organisations we have contacted. Please note all comments received will be published on the Institute’s website when a decision has been taken.
