We would like to update you on the decision made regarding the review of the existing guidance on Human growth hormone (somatropin) in adults with growth hormone deficiency (no. 64).  The Institute was proposing that the review of the original guidance be deferred until 2012, when results of trials are published, to allow this research to be available to inform the review.

During consultation, the majority of comments received by the Institute agreed with the proposal put forward.  After consideration of all of the comments (attached as appendix A), the Institute’s Guidance Executive has decided to proceed with the proposal. We will therefore assess the status of the trial data in early 2012.
