Review of NICE Technology Appraisal Guidance No 73; myocardial perfusion scintigraphy for the diagnosis and management of angina and myocardial infarction

Review decision

The Institute proposed that the recommendation 1.1 within the original guidance be updated by the on-going NICE clinical guideline on the ‘Assessment and investigation of recent onset chest pain of discomfort of suspected cardiac origin’.

After consideration of all of the comments received (attached as appendix A), the Institute’s Guidance Executive has decided to proceed with the proposal. Therefore, the original recommendation of 1.1 within the existing guidance will be updated by the on-going NICE clinical guideline on the ‘Assessment and investigation of recent onset chest pain of discomfort of suspected cardiac origin’ which is currently scheduled to publish in March 2010.

We now plan to consult upon a review proposal for recommendation 1.2 within TA73 in June 2010.
