Review of NICE Technology Appraisal Guidance No 83, laparoscopic surgery for hernia

Proposal to defer the review

The Institute has carried out a search for information relevant to this appraisal, and has found that to the best of its knowledge, no new evidence has been published that would have a material effect on the original guidance.

Consequently we propose that the decision to review the original guidance be deferred until September 2010 when the evidence base will again be assessed to ascertain the need for a review of the guidance.

In order to be completely confident that this is appropriate, we are asking all relevant consultees and commentators, to inform us of any evidence which would suggest that an earlier review would be beneficial. Please see Appendix A for a full list of the organisations we have contacted.

Please note all comments received will be published on the Institute's website when a decision has been taken.
