Multiple Technology Appraisal (MTA)
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is producing guidance on using Hybrid closed loop systems for managing blood glucose levels in type 1 diabetes in the NHS in England. The diagnostics advisory committee has considered the evidence and the views of non-company consultees and commentators, clinical experts and patient experts.
You can now comment on the Appraisal Consultation Document (ACD).
It summarises the evidence and views that have been considered, and sets out the recommendations made by the committee. NICE invites comments from registered stakeholders, healthcare professionals and the public.
This document should be read along with the evidence (see the committee papers).
How to comment
You should read both the consultation document and the accompanying evidence (see the committee papers) before making any comments.
We have a new way of making comments on this consultation. You must make your comments directly onto the online version of the consultation document. When you go into the document you will find instructions on how to use the new commenting software. You can also review and edit your comments before you submit them.
You can download a PDF version of the consultation document, but you can only make comments on the online version.

About the consultation
The advisory committee is interested in receiving comments on the following:
- Has all of the relevant evidence been taken into account?
- Are the summaries of clinical and cost effectiveness reasonable interpretations of the evidence?
- Are the recommendations sound, and a suitable basis for guidance to the NHS?
We would also like you to think about whether there are any aspects of the recommendations that need particular consideration to make sure we avoid unlawful discrimination against any group of people. For example, on the grounds of:
- race
- sex
- disability
- religion or belief
- sexual orientation
- age
- gender reassignment
- pregnancy and maternity.
Note that this document is not NICE's final guidance on this technology. The recommendations in section 1 may change after consultation.
After the consultation has closed the diagnostics advisory committee will meet again to consider the responses received and prepare the final appraisal document.
