In March 2024, the NICE Topic Selection Oversight Panel (TSOP), with membership from NICE, Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and NHS England, met to decide if the topic is appropriate for selection. The panel utilised the selection and routing considerations within section 6.2 of the NICE health technology evaluation topic selection manual. New antimicrobials will now be considered for NICE evaluation as part of NHS England’s Antimicrobial Products Subscription Model, which is expected to launch in summer 2024. Therefore, panel concluded there was a clear rationale not to select Bismuth subcitrate potassium–metronidazole–tetracycline hydrochloride with omeprazole for a technology appraisal.
