Resource impact statement

Indicator

The percentage of patients with asthma on the register, who have had an asthma review in the preceding 12 months that includes an assessment of asthma control, a recording of the number of exacerbations and a written personalised action plan.

Resource impact

The previous indicator IND188 was as follows:

The percentage of patients with asthma on the register, who have had an asthma review in the preceding 12 months that includes an assessment of asthma control using a validated asthma control questionnaire (including assessment of short acting beta agonist use), a recording of the number of exacerbations and a written personalised action plan.

Indicator IND272 updates and replaces IND188, which specified that an assessment of asthma control should use a validated asthma control questionnaire (including assessment of short acting beta agonist use).

This indicator is therefore not expected to lead to a significant change in clinical practice and any associated resource impact will be negligible.
