Rationale
Children and young people with type 1 diabetes have a higher prevalence of autoimmune disorders such as coeliac disease and thyroid disease compared with children and young people without type 1 diabetes. Screening for thyroid in children and young people allows early detection and appropriate management to improve health outcomes.
