In the studies in the evidence reviewed people were offered an intervention based on demographic and clinical characteristics. This meant it was difficult to assess the true effect of interventions on patient outcomes. Therefore the committee decided not to make any practice recommendations.The committee thought this was an area that needed further research and therefore developed a research recommendation.
