Equality considerations
NICE is committed to promoting equality of opportunity, eliminating unlawful discrimination and fostering good relations between people with particular protected characteristics and others.
Most cases of adult growth hormone deficiency are because of damage to the pituitary gland caused by a tumour or by the treatment of a tumour. The cause of these brain tumours is unknown, but people are more likely to develop them if they are aged 50 or over, have a family history of brain tumours, have had radiotherapy or if they have a genetic condition. Age and disability are protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.
