NICE has assessed the Senza spinal cord stimulation (SCS) system for delivering HF10 therapy to treat chronic neuropathic pain to help the NHS decide whether to use this product.
HF10 therapy is a type of high-frequency SCS. HF10 therapy using Senza works at least as well as low-frequency SCS, and also avoids the tingling sensation that is sometimes associated with SCS.
HF10 therapy with Senza may be used for people who still have chronic neuropathic back or leg pain 6 months after back surgery, despite having standard care. It should only be used in people who have first completed a trial of SCS.
