Rezum for treating lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia

NICE has said Rezum can be used to treat lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Rezum works by injecting steam into the prostate to destroy excess tissue. Evidence shows that it relieves symptoms and improves quality of life. It’s minimally invasive, which means you do not need open surgery, and you are unlikely to need a stay overnight in hospital.

It should only be used in people who have moderate to severe LUTS, and a moderately enlarged prostate.
