Kidney disease

Having type 2 diabetes means you are more likely to get kidney disease – this is called nephropathy. If tests show that your kidneys are not working as they should, you may be offered 1 or more medicines to stop or delay any kidney damage from getting worse. These may include SGLT2 inhibitors, which are helpful for people with chronic kidney disease. See NICE's guideline on chronic kidney disease.
