Overview

This quality standard covers diagnosing and managing irritable bowel syndrome in adults. It describes high-quality care in priority areas for improvement.

It does not cover other gastrointestinal disorders, such as non-ulcer dyspepsia or inflammatory bowel disease. NICE has also published a quality standard on coeliac disease.
