Rationale
Smoking during pregnancy is detrimental to the health of both the mother and unborn baby. The NICE quality standard on antenatal care recommends that pregnant women who smoke are referred to an evidence-based stop smoking service at the booking appointment to help woman to stop smoking during pregnancy and beyond.
